I think there's some kind of game tonite.....

This picture reminds me of Desiree!!

Hiya Blogland!!! How is everyone doing?? We are supposed to get more snow tonite into tomorrow. EEEKKK!!! We still have snow on the ground from last week!!  I'm sure y'all know tonite is the Super Bowl. I really don't care who wins--I'll watch the halftime show (Bruno Mars-LOVE) but am totally uninterested in the rest.  We are having a bunch of friends over. The guys will watch it whilst Andrea and I ( the only ladies) hang out in the Craft Palace and make a creative mess. I'm sure there will be glitter involved!!

I'm glad everyone enjoyed seeing the photo's of the Thirties movie stars. Such glamour and the clothes were so gorgeous. Today I will be sharing old advertisements and photo's of regular ladies from the Thirties!!

How stunning is the drapery at the back and along the hem?? I love the jacket!
The seaming at the waist and the sleeve detail is amazing!
I would wear any one of these.
I want the one with the dotty jacket!
The dresses had so much detail and trimming to make them interesting.
Look at the prices!!!  So elegant!
These fur coats are gorgeous!
Ladies out on the town.

I found these interesting charts that show the development year by year of Thirties styles.  I'm going to print them up and frame them--love their graphics.  Giving a shout out to Anne of Spy-Girl- I thought of your sketches when I saw these!!

I got out of the house once this week so -TAH-DAH- an outfit to share!!! We went to a friends house for Homegroup Friday nite. I had to take a pain pill to manage it but it was nice to be out among the human race.  I'm wearing a thrifted Avenue sweater dress, Aerosole boots, and WARM leggings. Gracie is rocking a purple paid sweater and natural chihuahua cuteness!!

Here I am in my hat for Style Crone's Hat Attack #7. I thrifted the polar fleece hat and added a DIY crocheted flower. I think it looks rather 1930's!! The pin was found at the craft store on the clearance rack.

Well I'm off to prepare for company. Ther hubster is doing all the cooking--I'm supervisory staff today!! LOLOL Everyone have a fantastic rest of the weekend and I'll be back later this week!!! It's about time to share WEIRD VALENTINES!!!

Isn't this gown so romantic??

The Perfect Diva Tribute for Christmas

Hiya Blogland!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and weekend!!! Anyone go shopping on Black Friday??? I'm crazy but not THAT crazy. I'm not interested in going to the mall on a good day, much less brave all the crowds!!

I had to stop in Michael's today to pick up a couple of crafty supplies (costuming some kid angels, Herod, Wisemen and assorted village folk). I strolled through the Christmas aisle to see what was interesting. Everything was 50% off and y'all KNOW I NEED more Christmas stuff.

Well I spotted an ornament that had to come home with me. It kind of brought a bit of a tear to my eyes. What could be a more perfect tribute to our beloved Diva this Christmas but a blinged out,
dress-wearing chihuahua ornament. She's even sporting a little glittery hat for Hat Attack this week. It's even captures her expression!!
Always the International Style Icon in black lace, leopard and glitter!!
I want to start sharing some of the Christmas Decor that I've gotten up!! This is the antique pie safe (my great-grandmom's) inside the front door. I thifted the Santa's and the garland.
This is handmade. I paid $1 at a yard sale!!

This was made by Eskimo's at the North Pole. $2 at the Goodwill!!
Here is our front door on the inside. I made the Santa from just stuff I had in my stash.

Close-up of face. The tree is vintage.

We have a niche that our TV sits in . I put the shelf up over it this summer. The garland was thrifted for $1 at the Salvation Army. It's meant to go on a mantle. The little churches were made by a friend as a trade for Santa's I made. This lady taught herself to sculpt with paper mache when she was in her sixties. She made the green trees on the right. The ones on the left were thrifted. The white trees are DIY. The deer on the TV is a DIY remake I did of a thrifted gold metallic paper mache deer.

I had planned on taking photo's of Lauren's cousin's ultra=modern house but I totally spaced it. It was nice but  rather cold and empty. Definitely I'm not a minimalist type person. I dressed to be warm as the house was rather chilly. I'm wearing all thrifted--GloriaVanderbilt  plaid trousers, DressBarn black cardigan, Unlabeled wool turtleneck, Aerosole maryjanes and vintage dragonfly pin.

I was dressed in sweats on Friday as I was decorating so y'all can just use your imagination. Saturday I took my adopted grandson to a Junk Drawer Robotics class for his 9thbirthday at the library. Judah made a really cool marshmallow catapult. We then ate at Burger King (his choice) I enjoyed spending time with him. I'm wearing a thrifted Venezia sweater, my DIY Stirrup Jeans, DIY scarf and old boots. You can see some of our porch decor in this picture!
Today was a BUSY day. I had to measure some little angels for costumes and organize and start passing out costumes for the church Christmas program. I won a $50 gift card to DressBarn over the summer and finally got around to using it last month. I decided on something festive for the holidays. What can be more FESTIVE than emerald green snake print?? I despaired finding anything I liked until a spotted this sweater. I paired it with my swirly black maxi, thrifted Nine West booties and a vintage rhinestone brooch ruching up the hem of the sweater.

Today is Style Crone's HAT ATTACK #5. I'm wearing this cute boiled wool flapper hat I got at Ross. I have a big head so I have a hard time finding anything. This hat is lightweight but warm. I'm wearing it with my thrifted Lord&Taylor red car coat and a vintage deer pin. The blur is Miss Gracie. We couldn't get her to stay still!! She kept kissing me and wiggling.
I'm linking up with the lacy Patti for Visible Monday #118!! Come by and see the best style and fashion on the internet!!

Everyone have a fabulous beginning of the week!! I'll be decorating like a crazy woman!! Be back later this week!!

Houndstooth and Halloween

Hiya Blogland!!! How is everyone doing??? I'm laying low for Halloween. It's dreary and rainy outside.

I wanted to get a photo of Gracie in her candy corn dress. She isn't the camera-hog the Diva was. She's always bopping around and moving and just busy. I have several shots like this:
This was a frequent view of the Diva when she disapproved of something. Talk to the BUTT!!!

FINALLY I got an adorable shot of her!!
So must cuteness!!
Here's a selection of vintage Halloween cards. Most are from the late 1890's through the early 40's. I love the exquisite artwork.
I adore the pumpkin car in the middle!
Dig the gal on the left's owl hat!
Oh look the terrifying Halloween parrot!!
The one on the left is some weird Halloween/Thanksgiving mash-up.
I'm going to have nightmares about pumpkin gal in the middle!
These are weird. Evil Halloween CABBAGES and Satan making a menu whilst being mocked by fruit.

I was inspired by Gracey of Fashion for Giants Harlequin & Houndstooth outfit this week so I pulled out my houndstooth.
Gracey looking fabulous!
Wednesday I wore a thrifted St.JohnsBay turtleneck sweater, thrifted Aerosole maryjanes, vintage scarf, and a ponte houndstooth skirt from Walmart. I was buying some kale, bananas and almond milk and spotted it. It was love at first sight--although I wasn't sure I could fit in that size. I could and home it came with me!! I haven't been in Misses sizes in YEARS!!!

Keeping with the houndstooth theme I'm wearing a thrifted ponte skirt, thrifted belt, thrifted NineWest flats, Target tights, DIY necklace and bracelet, thrifted hat and LaneBryant top. I had a gift certificate for months and finally found something I wanted to use it on. This was another love at first sight. I just loved the bold graphicness of the houndstooth.

Here's a close-up of the hat. You can see my new purple glasses! I'm linking up with the always elegant Judith of Style Crone  for Hat Attack!!!
I'm awfully chipper looking for 5:30am!!!
I was looking through some old pictures from last year at this time. WOW--what a change!! The hair color, the size, the style. Last year at this time I only wore maxi skirts or long pants and wore baggy clothes still. now it's short(well, knee-length) and more form fitting tops. Here's what I wore around Halloween 2012:

I'm glad I have a 3 day weekend. I need to get the thanksgiving decor up outside and start organizing the Christmas hoard of decorations. I plan on being a homebody this weekend except for church!! Everyone have a fabulous weekend and I'll be back on Sunday!!

Hats Off!!!

Hiya Blogland!!! This will be a short post today I wanted to join in with Judith of the Style Crone's inaugural Hat ATTACK!!!

I have a mini-collection of vintage hats to choose from but decided to share the hat I wear the most. There isn't anything particularly exciting about it!! It was a freebie I snagged from my husband. I wear it practically every day when I walk Gracie. I chose it because it's very visible when I'm out and about.

Yesterday's outfit was a tried and true maxi and cardigan. Easy and mindless on a crazy day.

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!!! Gracie and I are planning some nice walks and I've got some serious gardening to do!!I'll be back on Sunday!!
