Love is a Sausage

Yes, yes it is a sausage!!

Hiya Blogland!!! I hope everyone has been having a lovely weekend!!! It's SNOWING here again-LOL!!! I truly am OVER winter now.

Today I'll be sharing Valentine's cards featuring that oh-so-romantic symbols of everlasting love-the Sausage, the Hotdog and butcher's cleavers/meat. I'm not even going to try to fathom the card-artists mind process when designing these cards. Because my mind just doesn't go Valentines=Meat. So let's all enjoy a nice weiner and peruse these tokens of affection!!
Meat--the international symbol of LOVE

The words are pun-tastically awful!
A big knife and a dead chicken put me in the mood! The butcher is scary!
What is it with hotdogs for Valentine's Day?? My kisses are like hotdogs?? EEEEWWWW
MORE sausages of Love!
OOOOO--there's that big sex-ay knife again!!
Am I wrong to suspect that the hotdog in all these cards symbolizes something else???
Yup--nothing wink-wink about this....
Eating baby calves=eternal love.
That butcher is creepy--like he has human body parts hanging in his meat locker.
And yet another oh-so-innocent HOTDOG!!

Meat and and knives again.....

Love is a big plate of Sausages!!!!

Now that I've traumatized you-time for an outfit post!!! My big outing this week (was really housebound due to ice storm) was for the funeral of a dear friend yesterday. The car trip and sitting really did a number on the back even with happy pills. It was a terrible occasion to see many friends we hadn't seen in quite a time since we moved to Western Maryland. We've all decided to get together this summer.

Anyhow--my outfit consists of a thrifted SagHarbor sweater, thrifted glenplaid skirt and old boots. The necklace is DIY from the craft store. I admit there is nothing exciting going on here but it's not yoga pants and a fleece so I'm styling!!!

The skirt is going to go in the donate pile--it's a bit too big and spins around cockamamie when I wear it. i don't LOVE it so away it goes. I'm now thinking about SPRING and what I need.  I am going to need tops. Everything I had last year is WAY too big. Skirts I can take in (my summer skirts are all elastic waist maxi skirts) but the tops are just too big to alter. If I can only get out to the thrifts!!
On the dollhouse front-it's been slow-going. I now need to shingle the roof. After that it's fill in holes, sanding and then it's time to paint. WHEW!!!! This takes a lot of time but it is fun!!

I've been nominated for a  "Shine On" award by the lovely Seeker at Searching the Inner Me. I'll be blogging about it later this week!! Along with some more Valentines!

I'm linking up with the fab Patti and the lovely ladies of Visible Monday and for Tres Chic Style Bits #14. Stop by and check out these lovely ladies! FAR better than the drivel at New York Fashion Week!!

8pm on a Saturday Night

My winter tree

Hiya Blogland!!! I survived the POLAR VORTEX OF DOOM!!!! I need to get a t-shirt now I guess!!! It got down to -4 degrees F here. not as bad as the poor folks in the Midwest but miserable enough.

Not that I was going anywhere out in it. I'm still housebound and such. Ugh. Anyway--I have found a benefit of being stuck indoors. I've discovered that MeTv channel is showing reruns of my absolute favorite TV show when I was a teen.
http://www.emergencyfans.com/images/page6-screenshots/ss-squadengine.jpg
Every Saturday night in the early 70's I had a regular babysitting gig with the little boys next door.  The tv was tuned at 8pm to NBC for Emergency!('72-'79). Here's a little blurb about it:

The show focuses on paramedics John Gage and Roy DeSoto (played by Randolph Mantooth and Kevin Tighe respectively) of the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Squad 51 based out of Station 51 in Carson (Actually LACoFD Station 127), and Rampart General Hospital emergency room headed by chief staff physician/surgeon Dr. Kelly Brackett and Head Nurse Dixie McCall, worked with physician/surgeon Dr. Joe Early and young intern Dr. Mike Morton (played by Robert Fuller, Julie London, Bobby Troup and Ron Pinkard) with whom the paramedics work to save lives. The Squad crew was stationed with LACoFD Engine Company 51 who often responded with them. The show, which portrayed dedicated civil servants who handled two or three varied and unrelated incidents during a typical shift, often showed real-life medical and firefighting procedures. It was also the first show to show paramedics who help rescue people injured or in peril.
Emergency! was created and produced by Jack Webb and Robert A. Cinader, both of whom were also responsible for the police dramas Adam-12 and Dragnet.

While my  friends were all a-gaga over the likes of Donny Osmond or David Cassidy, my heart belonged to Randolph Mantooth, who played paramedic John Gage.  Sigh.... who needed a dippy teenybopper singer when there was this:

And he's STILL mighty fine looking.

I actually have an outfit to share. Nothing exciting but I did have to get out of the yoga pants and fleece tops to go to the doctors this past week.
LandsEnd Knit pullover/thrifted, DIY thrifted stirrup jeans, guess boots/thrifted and scarf from Curtise.
The dogs have been enjoying all of the mommy lap-time. They will be very unhappy when I finally can go back to work.

Found this in my files. The BEST wedding cake EVER!!  Nothing says "love" like dead rodents!!
I've managed ( in the hour increments I can be up and about) to get the shell of the dollhouse done and primed. Next up is putting on the clapboards.
I'm linking up with all of the fab ladies over at Visible Monday this week. Even though I'm not as visible as I'd like--I am enjoying seeing everyone else!

Well--time to trundle off to the recliner!! Have a fantastic week everyone!!!

Photoshop Fashion

Tamera rocks suede and fringe and big hair.

Hiya Blogland!!! It's the last Sunday of 2013!! I hope everyone has had a fabulous holiday season full of joy and happiness.

In dollhouse news I've labeled and punched  all the parts out. Next up is sanding. I'm planning on painting the exterior pale pink with slate grey shutters and pale grey roof shingles. Here's what the house will look like finished:
Finished Exteriors
Unfinished Exterior
Unfinished Interior
Since I'm not going anywhere these days and no one wants to see the latest reiteration of my fleece and jogging pants I decided to ply my minimal Photoshop skills and make my own cut and paste fashion show. I can do this with ease in real life with scissors and paste but my computer skillz in this area are pitiful. Something to work on in the new year!!

Rocking the midi and boots.
Hot pants and fake fur. I need those purple shoes!!
Gorgeous maxi's-I feel like Curtise!!
I would totally wear this today. Very 30's looking!!
These styles would look great today!!
Love this gingham maxi!!
I wore an outfit just like this in the 70's.
I'm going to be linking up with all of the glorious ladies at Cruising Patti's last Visible Monday of 2013!!

Everyone a a fantastic end of the year and I'll be back in 2014!!

Too stupid for a smart phone

Buddies in matching Christmas sweaters!!
Hiya Blogland!! Greetings from snowy Western Maryland!!! We are living in a winter wonderland. MrBill is hating life right now-all of this snow confuses him. Gracie LOVES it!!

I've been hanging in there in regards to my slip last week and my back/hip.  I've got another doctor's appointment Tuesday morning. I've been spending loads of quality time in the recliner with my Kindle. I've been reading every one's posts even if I'm not commenting. Commenting from the Kindle is a pain in the butt. I can't sit in the chair too long to use the computer. The happy pills make me sleep alot. Gracie and MrBill have been enjoying lots of Mommy lap time.

In the spirit of keeping it real I've been rocking a variation of this lovely and flattering outfit all week. Knit pants, fleecy pullover, Tshirt, warm socks and slippers. The pants and pullover are from Goodwill though!!
Setting the fashion world ON FIRE!!!

Lauren and I got new phones as our Christmas gifts to each other. We've had Iphone 3's (HATE)the last few years and it was time to upgrade. Lauren decided on Galaxy Note 2's for us. They are really spiffy and so much easier to use than the Iphone. HOWEVER--it took me a bit to figure out how to answer the phone when someone called.  Lauren is a total techno-weenie and loves all the features. I'm spending my time just figuring it out.

I tried to do a Xmas photoshoot with Gracie and MrBill in their matching sweaters. Gracie is just too curious and busy and wouldn't sit still. I finally got pictures of them napping!!

The Diva LOVED to have her picture taken. The problem with her was her hogging the camera--she'd jump in front of poor Bill. It WAS all about her.

Christmas 2012 - RIP The Diva
Now that I've dazzled you with my styling togs--heres' some more Christmas deco pictures:
Close-ups of living room tree with vintage glass ornaments
The Santa tree in the dining room.
Santa's on dining room hutch. Some DIY and some thrifted.
Hanging Santa's I made.
Dining room decorations. The feather tree was thrifted at  a yardsale for $1 including the vintage ornaments!!
Candy/baking themed display in kitchen. Everything is thrifted.

The "Diva" tree. Amazing that this was in someones TRASH!!

The tree skirt was DIY from a vintage tablecloth. The ornaments are either DIY or vintage.
Close-up of vintage-look batting Santas I made. I want to do more for next year. These are based off a Victorian era Santa ornament
Newest Diva ornament I got at Hobby Lobby. Looks just like her!!

Although I've been a bit invisible this week style-wise I'm linking up with all of the far more fabulous ladies for Visible Monday #119 and Share-in-Style: Christmas. I'm standing next to a Christmas tree so that should count!! Plus Gracie and MrBill are sharing their Christmas sweaters!!

Everyone have a fantastic start to your week !! I'll be back later in the week even if it's to share another stunning pullover and pants and slippers ensemble!!

The Perfect Diva Tribute for Christmas

Hiya Blogland!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and weekend!!! Anyone go shopping on Black Friday??? I'm crazy but not THAT crazy. I'm not interested in going to the mall on a good day, much less brave all the crowds!!

I had to stop in Michael's today to pick up a couple of crafty supplies (costuming some kid angels, Herod, Wisemen and assorted village folk). I strolled through the Christmas aisle to see what was interesting. Everything was 50% off and y'all KNOW I NEED more Christmas stuff.

Well I spotted an ornament that had to come home with me. It kind of brought a bit of a tear to my eyes. What could be a more perfect tribute to our beloved Diva this Christmas but a blinged out,
dress-wearing chihuahua ornament. She's even sporting a little glittery hat for Hat Attack this week. It's even captures her expression!!
Always the International Style Icon in black lace, leopard and glitter!!
I want to start sharing some of the Christmas Decor that I've gotten up!! This is the antique pie safe (my great-grandmom's) inside the front door. I thifted the Santa's and the garland.
This is handmade. I paid $1 at a yard sale!!

This was made by Eskimo's at the North Pole. $2 at the Goodwill!!
Here is our front door on the inside. I made the Santa from just stuff I had in my stash.

Close-up of face. The tree is vintage.

We have a niche that our TV sits in . I put the shelf up over it this summer. The garland was thrifted for $1 at the Salvation Army. It's meant to go on a mantle. The little churches were made by a friend as a trade for Santa's I made. This lady taught herself to sculpt with paper mache when she was in her sixties. She made the green trees on the right. The ones on the left were thrifted. The white trees are DIY. The deer on the TV is a DIY remake I did of a thrifted gold metallic paper mache deer.

I had planned on taking photo's of Lauren's cousin's ultra=modern house but I totally spaced it. It was nice but  rather cold and empty. Definitely I'm not a minimalist type person. I dressed to be warm as the house was rather chilly. I'm wearing all thrifted--GloriaVanderbilt  plaid trousers, DressBarn black cardigan, Unlabeled wool turtleneck, Aerosole maryjanes and vintage dragonfly pin.

I was dressed in sweats on Friday as I was decorating so y'all can just use your imagination. Saturday I took my adopted grandson to a Junk Drawer Robotics class for his 9thbirthday at the library. Judah made a really cool marshmallow catapult. We then ate at Burger King (his choice) I enjoyed spending time with him. I'm wearing a thrifted Venezia sweater, my DIY Stirrup Jeans, DIY scarf and old boots. You can see some of our porch decor in this picture!
Today was a BUSY day. I had to measure some little angels for costumes and organize and start passing out costumes for the church Christmas program. I won a $50 gift card to DressBarn over the summer and finally got around to using it last month. I decided on something festive for the holidays. What can be more FESTIVE than emerald green snake print?? I despaired finding anything I liked until a spotted this sweater. I paired it with my swirly black maxi, thrifted Nine West booties and a vintage rhinestone brooch ruching up the hem of the sweater.

Today is Style Crone's HAT ATTACK #5. I'm wearing this cute boiled wool flapper hat I got at Ross. I have a big head so I have a hard time finding anything. This hat is lightweight but warm. I'm wearing it with my thrifted Lord&Taylor red car coat and a vintage deer pin. The blur is Miss Gracie. We couldn't get her to stay still!! She kept kissing me and wiggling.
I'm linking up with the lacy Patti for Visible Monday #118!! Come by and see the best style and fashion on the internet!!

Everyone have a fabulous beginning of the week!! I'll be decorating like a crazy woman!! Be back later this week!!
