....or nab some treasures out of someone's curbside trash!!! Hiya Blogland!!! A real friend won't even think you are crazy to suggest stopping and rooting through someone's trash because you spied something FABULOUS!!!
I was on my way yesterday to meet Andrea for our thrift-a-palooza when I spied a bunch of Christmas stuff alongside trashcans on the curb near her home. There was a WHITE Christmas tree laying there!!! When I got to her house I asked her if she would mind if I stopped to check it out. MIND??? Heck she would help me look over the stuff!!
So we stopped and I nabbed a GORGEOUS 8FT high narrow white iridescent/opalescent tree--I just need to get a tree stand for it. We howled in laughter stuffing it in the back of my little Neon car!! Andrea and I agreed that our hubby's would've been rolling their eyes at us!!! Lauren just shook his head when I drug it into the basement. I needed another tree--LOL. I ONLY had 8--now with the one I got Saturday for my World War 2 era ornaments I'll have 10. SNERK!!!
I have PLANS for this white tree for the master bedroom. I've always wanted a pastel/shabby chic tree and this will be perfect. Pictures to come when I get it up!! I've been sorting through other ornaments to gather all the pastel ones together.
Andrea and I managed to hit up three Goodwills yesterday, including the half price outlet. Totally spaced taking any pictures as usual. We also stopped by Burlington Coat Factory--they have the best jewelry for cheap. Plus they will discount anything broken. Andrea got an awesome black necklace that just needed a jump ring re-connected for like $3.
I joke with her that anytime we thrift together she finds all kinds of goodies and I find nothing!!! I did get a cute pullover sweater I'll be wearing next week. She cleaned up--pair of orchid skinny pants, a black silky tunic, a brown crochet cardigan, a leopard glittery tank, a lime green sweater tunic, a purple satin blouse and a pair of kick-ass black snake knee-high boots. All of this for under $25!!!
PLUS we shopped for the boys. I got my "grandsons" 6 long sleeve tshirts for like $5, and she got them 4 pair of pants and several shirts. The shirts are usually only 75 cents and the pants $1 at the Goodwill outlet.
I dressed for ease of trying on stuff--which I did but nothing really fit except that sweater I brought.
Everything I'm wearing except the boots is thrifted. The boots I got last year at Kohl's 90% off of $109!!!
In case you're wondering what's going on with the hair--I'm trying to let it grow out some. I was having some serious static head yesterday!! I trimmed my bangs last week and they are curling up too short. I'm thinking about maybe going for something shoulder length-if it doesn't drive me crazy. (which for me it's a really short trip to crazy-LOL).
MrBill is really enjoying his sweaters these days. I guess he's finally realized they keep him warm. I just brought matching xmas ones for him and Gracie. This is his newest one. He still isn't much on having his picture taken. I tried to get one of Graciebut she was too busy running around.
This week is Citizen Rosebud's Shoe Shine!!! I'm showing off the lace-up kick-butt Guess boots of AWESOMENESS I thrifted for $5 this summer. Stop by and check out the best shoe show on the web!!
Well, I'm off to do some hand hemming. I scored a Black Watch tartan plaid pencil skirt I want to debut soon!! Everyone have a FABULOUS evening!!

Catching it all up....
| The view of the battlefield on our walk today |
Hiya Blogland!!! I'm catching up from a busy and crazy and emotional week. I'm definitely looking forward to a more peaceful future!! This week I'm stuck in classes all week on Public works. I'll have homework each nite so I may not be able to comment or visit everyone as much. I'm totally NOT looking forward to this--the pre-class stuff I had to review was deadly boring to put it mildly.
I was off for Columbus Day on Monday so Andrea and I decided to go thrift shopping. We had a load of fun--she got some FABULOUS bargains (I found a teal cardigan I'm wearing later this week). I intended to take pictures but we got so engrossed in what we were doing I totally forgot to.
Except I didn't miss photographing this lovely sweater. It's a shame it wasn't either of our size or we'd have been brawling on the floor over it.
Bunnies, duckies, kitties, a peter pan collar. So much fabulousness... NOT!!! Seriously--this is the ugliest sweater I have ever seen. Pure hideousness in pilled up, stretched out knit!!
We ran into this lovely lady in Ross. Her name is Tatiana and she is rocking the pirate look!!
I dressed for comfort and ease for trying on stuff. The sweater and boots are old, the pants are WhiteStag charcoal mini-wale corduroy that I got for $2 and put stirrups on. The t-shirt was $3--and is really a Cacique pajama top. I loved the black & white FABULOUS written down the front.
Tuesday I pulled out a dress to wear. This one will be returning to the Goodwill--it's too big and I can't alter it anymore. The cardigan is thrifted. The necklace was from our rainbow gal Krista.
Wednesday I went all school-girl. Everything but the tights are thrifted. The plaid blouse is Chaps, the cardigan LandsEnd, skirt LaneBryant and the shoes are Aerosole. The total cost was only $12!!!
Thursday I dressed comfortable as I was leaving work early to travel to visit our daughter. Her foot surgery went really well!!! I stopped at a Michael's craft store on the way home to go to the bathroom and pick up some glitter. I was PICK-POCKETED and had my wallet stolen from my purse!! UGH!! Only had $4 and the credit card (which got cancelled immediately) plus driver's license. I was able to give the police a description of the person who distracted me with a bunch of questions. They are going to run the videotape this week to see if it caught her.
My boots are old, the pants are LaneBryant/thrifted. The top is from LaneBryant and is another pajama top that I'm wearing as regular clothes.
On Friday I decorated the hall where Curtis's funeral repast would be held (I was doing hostess duties). Often, in America, people get together for a meal after a funeral. Friends and others donate pot-luck dishes for this.
Everything is thrifted but the shoes--which I got at Kmart several years ago.
Curtis's funeral was amazing. Approximately 500 people attended the service (only about 75 were at the meal) It was a true testimony to the mark he made in this world.
Another thrifted outfit. I wore black and gold in honor of Curt's favorite football team-the Steelers. The heels came off when I was hostessing the meal. The jacket is getting it's last wear. I love it but it's too big now and I can't alter it to fit.
I decided to wear something FUN today. I pulled out my Laugh-In dress i made. Everyone always comments how much they love it. It just makes you SMILE!!
The booties beads and bangles are all thrifted.
I'm linking up with all the fabulous stylish chicks over at Visible Monday. Come by and check out the best fashion and style around!!
I'm off to try to catch up with everyone's blogs!!!

The Thrifting Bonanza!!
Hiya Blogland!!! I know I've mentioned the last couple of months have been a famine at the thrifts. I've been purging and altering like crazy but a significant portion of what I wore last Fall/Winter will not fit this year. So I've been on the hunt for "new" stuff.
I decided, to make things more cohesive, to limit my purchases to a "need" list and in a specific color scheme. I decided, since I've been drawn to it for months, on Black & White, Black, Grey with Jewletones such as Teal, Purple, Greens, & Hot Pink/Magenta. Having the silver hair (with pink) has moved me in a different color direction from the earth-tones I used to favor with the auburn hair. Have no fear--my closet still has loads of brightly colored cardigans and tshirts!! I did keep my taupe JJill skirt as it goes with the palette. Here's a peek of my closet:
I've found that his has made thrifting easier--I can focus on certain colors or items. Which for a magpie like me is a blessing!! I'm not distracted by that awesome rust print top!!
I really SCORED thrifting last weekend. My travels took me to 3 Goodwills I don't normally go to.
BONANZA!!! Everything cost between $2-$5 except the cowboy boot (YES) which were $10. I still have money left in my budget! I looked for items that could be easily altered smaller as needed.

Here's what I wore on Wednesday. I'm linking this outfit up with ShinyT Tuesday-Something Borrowed Something Blue. This is my blue--the aqua top and bangle. Everything is thrifted except the shoes-my faithful Skecher ballet flats.
Thursday's outfit started out with me wearing the newly thrifted denim shirt with my thrifted JJill skirt and leopard accents. MrBill jumped too hard off the curb when we went out before I left work and hurt his knees so I had to carry him home and he muddied the shirt. I wound up changing into a simple black thrifted tshirt. He's fine--every once in a while he forgets he's old and fat!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend-it's a holiday weekend here in the US!! Lot's to do--pressure wash the front porch, take my boys to McDonalds to celebrate back to school. Then their mom Andrea and I are going to put our heads together to plan a DIY Vintage Baseball theme makeover of their bedroom. Plus some sewing, thrifting, and walking Miss Gracie!! Chat with y'all later this weekend.
I'm linking up with Style Sud Est for Show Me Your Style #3 Blog hop!!
