The longest week EVER....

Hiya Blogland!! I am sure glad today (Thursday) is my Friday this week because work has been INSANE!!! I hate September as far as work goes because it's the end of the fiscal year and it just gets nuts.

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and was able to sneak in a trip to a Salvation Army I rarely go to. I've evidently appeased the thrifting god's with the donations I made recently because again I scored some goodies on the cheap. It was $1 for all women's clothing and shoes!!!!

Two Foxcroft button-downs. One is a gorgeous cornflower blue
and the other a soft magenta pink.

Croft & Barrow Tshirt--I loved that it had teal, purple and
magenta with the black & grey.

DCC woman Denim shirt--I already have a chambray and a dark denim but
just loved this distressed denim and the ruffles down the front.

Mercer360 Zebra Striped Sweater. What's not to love? Soft silvery knit
with the graphic zebra stripe down the center of the front & back.

I love tartan anything (I'm 90% Scottish 3rd generation off the boat) and was THRILLED when I found the LandsEnd tartan buttondown a couple of weeks ago. Imagine my joy at scoring this awesome Chaps tartan buttondown. I'm plaid-eriffic!!

A Design Originals black sweater with adorable embroidered white polka-dots.

These barely worn leather Naturalizer booties will be so cute later with tights.

I fell in love with the buckle on these barely worn
Michael Shannon leather ballet wedges.

Easy Spirit never-worn microfiber wedge heel ballet flats.

Yesterday between the crazy at work and some IBS (intestinal issues) I dressed pretty low-key. This weeks SpyGirl 52 Pick-Me-Up theme is "White" so I pulled out the Koret White blouse I recently thrifted. The jeans are JustMySize and thrifted and the shoes are my adorable thrifted pink LizCaliborne loafers. I needed some happy feet!! I added some bracelet's including the cool pink skulls one Krista made me. I was comfortable if not the most OMGFASHUN!!!!

Todays outfit is compromised of all thrifted items except my bracelets. They came from the clearance rack at Burlington Coat Factory. The skirt is Cathy Daniels, the top is Talbots or Ann Taylor (I forget!), the belt is almost TOO FREAKIN' BIG NOW!!!  I'm wearing the Easy Spirit shoes-they were like walking on air!

I must say I am looking forward to a my three day weekend!! I plan on pulling out the autumn and decorating inside and out-pictures to follow!!

Everyone have a glorious weekend and I'll be back on Sunday!!

Ferocious and Funny

Hiya Blogland!! Hope everyone has been having a fabulous weekend!! Today's post will have outfits of course and some funnies, too!

First up-remember the fabulous Sheila of Ephemera's Halloween costume from last year?? How can you forget this amazing display of pure genius?? Check out the original post HERE

I recently found a picture of this Barbie!! I think Sheila's version is far cooler!! Plus the expression on Vizzini is HILARIOUS!!

It's time again for Gracey of Fashion for Giants Literary Stylings #3. Go check out her cute literary inspired outfit!! I read several books this month, mostly tech heavy studies. I did TRY to read a freebie I got on my Kindle.
Try is the operative word. I'm not much on sci-fi or fantasy and this was that type of book. Hinky plot, crappy writing and I baled less than a quarter of the way through. But hey the title inspired my outfit!!

Since this outfit was inspired...I'm also liking up with Flight Platform Living's Shiny T Tuesday:Inspired

I've been SLAMMED at work (end of Fiscal Year festivities). I've been reading every one's comments here but just haven't had time to answer. I'm so sick of the computer I spend little to no time on it at home!!

I'll be back around on Thursday!! Have a fabulous "hump" day!!

Put a hat on it

Hiya Blogland!!! Everyone having a fantastic weekend thus far?? I'm wiped out!! Saturday Gracie and I went for our walk and then Lauren and I power-washed the front porch and front of the house. I'm still recuperating!

This Sunday is The Style Crone's Hat Attack #2. I decided to break out one of my vintage hats. I brought this maybe 15 years ago at a yard sale for $1. I just fell in love with how cute and saucy it it. The netting is shot. It's a sweet navy straw. It would look adorable with a red gingham vintage summer dress. If you look closely you can see the little photobomb over my shoulder.

I stopped by the Goodwill and the Mission Thrift when I went into town on Friday after work.  I found a few goodies to bring home.

A pale grey & charcoal lace print St.John'sBay Tshirt for $2

A black & white thin knit Drapers&Damson sweater for $2

A gorgeous polyester silk made in Japan Kimono for $4.
I plan to shorten this into a jacket length

A nice warm fuzzy bathrobe for $3

I also had a pee my pants moment when I spotted this on the rack at Goodwill:

A teal boiled wool and knit Geiger jacket in pristine condition for $4. I squealed when I saw it. This will be going to someone special.

I dressed casually on Friday-it was miserably hot and humid. I thrifted the floaty top for $3 and the JustMySize jeans with the tags for $4. The shoes are old/retail.

I dressed as easy and as breezy as I could Sunday. I pulled out my faithful Walmart tribal maxi and some bright bling.

I'm off to link up with Hat Attack!! I hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the weekend and I'll be back on Tuesday!!

The Thrifting Bonanza!!

Hiya Blogland!!! I know I've mentioned the last couple of months have been a famine at the thrifts.  I've been purging and altering like crazy but a significant portion of what I wore last Fall/Winter will not fit this year. So I've been on the hunt for "new" stuff.

I decided, to make things more cohesive, to limit my purchases to a "need" list and in a specific color scheme. I decided, since I've been drawn to it for months, on Black & White, Black, Grey with Jewletones such as Teal, Purple, Greens, & Hot Pink/Magenta. Having the silver hair (with pink) has moved me in a different color direction from the earth-tones I used to favor with the auburn hair. Have no fear--my closet still has loads of brightly colored cardigans and tshirts!! I did keep my taupe JJill skirt as it goes with the palette. Here's a peek of my closet:

I've found that his has made thrifting easier--I can focus on certain colors or items. Which for a magpie like me is a blessing!! I'm not distracted by that awesome rust print top!!

I really SCORED thrifting last weekend. My travels took me to 3 Goodwills I don't normally go to.
BONANZA!!! Everything cost between $2-$5 except the cowboy boot (YES) which were $10. I still have money left in my budget! I looked for items that could be easily altered smaller as needed.

Here's what I wore on Wednesday. I'm linking this outfit up with ShinyT Tuesday-Something Borrowed Something Blue. This is my blue--the aqua top and bangle. Everything is thrifted except the shoes-my faithful Skecher ballet flats.

Thursday's outfit started out with me wearing the newly thrifted denim shirt with my thrifted JJill skirt and leopard accents. MrBill jumped too hard off the curb when we went out before I left work and hurt his knees so I had to carry him home and he muddied the shirt. I wound up changing into a simple black thrifted tshirt. He's fine--every once in a while he forgets he's old and fat!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend-it's a holiday weekend here in the US!! Lot's to do--pressure wash the front porch, take my boys to McDonalds to celebrate back to school. Then their mom Andrea and I are going to put our heads together to plan a DIY Vintage Baseball theme makeover of their bedroom. Plus some sewing, thrifting, and walking Miss Gracie!! Chat with y'all later this weekend.
